I have Koken wood folding barber chair. The chair has what was once white canvas or duck seat, back, foot rest and head support and leather belt style arm rests When set up in usable position the leather arms hold it in that position and keep it from colapsing. Can be folded up and carried away. Wood is either oak or walnut. Except for the leather arms the chair is in excellant condition. However it looks as tho it's been in someones attic for 100 years My understanding is that koken invented the hydrulic chair. If this is so is this chair I have made before that invention? I would really like to know more about this chair. Really, Really, Really!!!! E-mail me at jp1@adams.net Thank bunches.

I have several pieces of china that claim to be 24 karat gold plated. On the bottom, there is a small crown above the name Victoria above the word Czechoslovakia. There is a flower filligree design etched in the gold, and there is a circle in the center with a picture of a woman in an old, full, Victorian dress, whose hand is held by a gentleman, holding his hat with the other hand, bowing over her. There is a long branch arched over the two, and a shrub by his side.
Also a vase that is a deep Chiense Red with a floral design etched around it. I have a pair of figurines. They are NOT originals, nor are they numbered, but they are signed P. Frank (for artist only, not an original signature) and were produced by KPM. They stand approx. 16" tall and each have a base approx. 4" in diameter. They are a boy and girl, each carrying fruit, the boy an apple in his hands and the girl with her apron loaded up with apples and other fruit. The boy fell over tonight and his head broke off. The break is pristine with NO missing pieces, chips, or flakes. 1) Not knowing the exact name of the line/pattern, what would be the approx. value of each piece? 2) What would be the best adhesive to repair the broken pieces? 3) What effect does the breakage have on the value of the piece assuming that restoration is perfect? I can send pictures for better ID. Thank You! chefpage@gmail.com

I was left a beautiful old Japanese tea set that my father bought in Japan when he was a Merchant Seaman. At the bottom of each cup is the image of a woman's face with Geisha-like hair and features. I am unable to find any information about the artist or when it was created or the mystery of the woman in the cups. It is handpainted and has what looks like gold around the rims of the teapot, cups, and saucers. It seems to be made of porcelain. I would truly appreciate any light that you or someone you know might shed on my gorgeous tea set. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Lorna Knowles, Redondo Beach CA beach321@netzero.com
Hi, I'm looking for resources to help me value an older mahogany Duncan Phyfe style drop leaf triple pedestal table with six chairs (rose back carvings - 1 captain). The pedestal are not claw feet, but are straight with rollers on the bottom. This was purchased at an estate sale and the family said it had been purchased in the 1940's, but didn't know if it was purchased new or used. Chairs had been recovered and the original cloth seats underneath seem to be in close to perfect condition (I'm currently taking them off). Original seats are a deep green with what appears to be primarily pink machine stitched flowers - very 1920's or 1930's looking to me. Any insights would be helpful. lisathompson@mchsi.com
I just purchased a Hope Chest at a yard sale. The inside of the cover has a carved inscription "F.B.M. Co. Hobocken, N.J." and "Pat". There is beveled like carving trim around the top and along the base. Would you be able to tell us anything about this piece - when it was made, how much it would be worth, etc. Please send any information to sinotte@cox.net. Thanks Jeanna.

I am looking to replace a plate which has just been broken - It is Royal Vale Bone China Collectable plate with the code D 87 9 stamped on the back. I need help identifying an old rough glazed teapot with it's own 'holding' plate and 4 cups. It is a medium brown rough glaze, (not shiny). It has dragons in relief on all the cups and on the pot but not on the plate. There is a dragon head that sticks out on the lid of the teapot that allows steam to escape from the pot through the dragons mouth. There are no markings on any of the pieces anywhere except for 3 symbols on the underside of the lid. The pot is about the size of a medium Brown Betty pot. The cups are small and sort of bowl shaped. If anyone has seen or heard of a teapot of this type or knows of a very experienced antique identifier, please email me at rainy4949@gmail.com This teapot set is reputed to have arrived in Paris from Istanbul on the orient express in the early 1930's. I'd really like to learn it's history. Thank you to anyone who can help.

I have an old Morris type reclining chair with an attached footrest which swings up (like a modern recliner) when you lean back. I beleive it belonged to my great great grandfather and was brought to the US from Ireland before 1900. The back has been broken and I'm looking to have it restored but I want to make it as authentic as possible. It is oak, I beleive and the sides are sort of harp shaped with a full panel on the bottom half (below the seat cushion) and spindles above. The arms curve and have a flat lion's head at the end of each arm. I have the mechanism for the footrest but do not know how it "attached" to the back of the chair. This is not a chair with wooden pins or a brass part which you latched into to set the chair back. I remember from my childhood that you just leaned back and the chair back went back and the footrest swung up. The last user had some kind of wire across the back that has broken, but was not the original mechanism anyway. The footrest, seat and back cushions are currently in naugahide. I think it had leather at one time, but I wonder if a William Morris fabric would be appropriate? I haven't been able to find anything quite like it pictured on the internet. I would like to hear from anyone with any information about such a chair who can steer me in the right direction for information to make this restoration authentic. E-mail me at http://www.ellenest@hotmail.com and put Morris chair in the subject line so I wont miss it among the spam. Thank you in advance.

The bottom has a red outlined oval with what almost looks like a tulip or a U-shaped flower with delicate lines for stem and leaves. I am not interested in selling, only in finding out more about the set. email me at jclark529@aol.com
I have a original Herbert Schmalz sepia print of "The Return from Calvary". The print is 26" x 18 1/2 ", with some aged water marks on it and aged edges. The lower left hand corner is signed and stamped 1906 Louis Wolff & Co. London. I purchased the print at an estate sale from a man whose family moved here from England. He did not know anything about the print, except that his father had purchased it from some artist in London and brought it here to the USA in 1916 and had charished it all his days. Looking for more information about the artist and this print. Thanks for any responses. dejanac@wowway.com

Hello... I have a figurine "Original Arnartcreation" sticker on the bottom, the sticker is silver and blue and has what looks like a crown on the top center of the sticker. There are two blue crossed arrows on the bottom of the figurine, and the number "S8598". The figurine is of a man sitting with crossed legs, with a spoon and a pot, like he is playing it like a violin. It has red shorts on, and a blue shirt with red buttons. I think it's from the late 50's or early 60's. It is in pretty poor shape, and I would like to find another, but I really don't know what it is... any help on where I could research this would be greatly appreciated... thanks. I have an old brass pole/floor lamp with two hanging (drop?) glass shades. The glass shades are completely enclosed and have a teardrop sort of shape to them with brass finials at their lower tip. They also have what looks like gold leaf on part of the glass. The pole extends from floor to ceiling (tension type) and the lights hang from two seperate arched "arms" that are at two different heights on opposite sides of the lamp. I would like to know if this lamp has any value at all. There is a label on one of the glass shades that reads "VV Made in France". I know it is at least 35-40 years old. Seeking information about a cherry drop leaf table with an extra leaf and extra legs for when it is opened. The leaves drop down almost to the floor. The legs are not "twisted" like a rope. The owner says it is a very old table, latter part of the 1800s. How would a lay person as myself confirm this? Any advice would be very appreciated. Shmeagol2@aol.com

I own a silver plated jewelry/vanity box. On the base in a circle it is engraved: Rogers Silverplate Co NB Danbury Conn. Outside the circle and directly above it is engraved E9553 in a different type than the one used in the circle. The box is oval in shape, has four small legs, and a hinged lid. On top and in the center of the lid there is a raised handle in a vine motif. There are roses and leaves in various locations on the rest of the box. It does not have a fabric lining inside, but may have in the past. I want to know when it was made, the approximate value and if the company was still on its own or had merged with another company at that time. Much thanks to anyone who can help me. I just purchased a Royal Easy Chair for a whopping $20.00. I believe the manufacture year to be 1932. It is upholstered in a solid pinkish, nappy fabric with a medallion pattern. The fabric has a coarse texture and appears to be original. It is not the boxier mission style that I have been finding pictures of but a little more "elegant" with turned legs and narrow arms. There is a footrest that slides into the base of the chair and a ring that is attached to a mechanism that is spring loaded but it is not working although it can probably be repaired. If you could give me some idea as to the value and where I might possibly get parts etc I would appreciate it. updreamer3@wmconnect.com

I recently purchased an antique English Walnut curio cabinet having belveled glass on three sides. The cabinet (about 6ft tall and about 2 1/2 ft. wide has a lot of intricate carving, and has a carved eagle on top with open wings (head facing to its left). The bottom has two very ornate carved drawers. Legs are shaped in Queen Anne style. Inside at top left corner is a black marking that appears to be either the number "2" or the letter "Q" written in script (or could be the script letter "J"). If anyone has any knowledge of curios that fit this discription ,I would very much appreciate you sharing your information. I also purchased an antique gate-leg table about 13 years ago. The style of the legs appear to be William and Mary, but I could be wrong. Unlike most gate-leg tables, this one has a pie-crust edging. Other than a small seam crack on middle section, table is in very good condition. Don't know what wood it was made from, but the finish is medium-dark. I have a maple (I believe-very heavy) drop leaf desk. It has a stamp on the top left side drawer in a stylized circle design with 1852 in the center. The name around the circle is Conant Ball Furniture Makers. It has tongue and groove on the drawers, but they don't have the more irregular workmanship of a hand made piece. All the pull knobs are wood and there is green felt on top of the desk rests on both sides of the smaller top drawer. I'm looking for information on the company and wondering if it was manufactured in 1852, it looks industrial age, but not hand made. I would really appreciate any information Company, and if its a reproduction by the markings. Not interested in selling it. Thanks in advance if you can tell me a bit of history on my piece. Hello, I have 8 dinner plates from my great grandmother that look unusual. They look like bone china, hand painted with the typical roses in the center, but surrounded by an intense colorful band and then gold design. But each one is a differant color: turquiose, purple, green, pink, royal blue, yellow, light green, red, etc. On the back says M&R made in USA. I was told that they were my great grandmothers "Christmas plates" but I am wondering if they are maybe another generation older. Any input? renee@raiteri.net Thank you. Renee

LINCOLN ASSASSINATION ROCKING CHAIR
Since the late 1800's my family has owned a Rocking Chair that appears to be a dead ringer of the black walnut rocking chair that Abraham Lincoln was sitting in when assassinated by Booth. According to the Henry Ford Museum's website, the Lincoln Rocking Chair was made between 1855 and 1865. I am trying to learn more about the original chair manufacturer, how many were made and are known to be in existence, and if authentically verified as being made by the original manufacturer what the approximate value of such a chair in excellent condition would be worth. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Victor Peeke email:
