I have an antique silver sugar bowl. I am sure that it was once part of a tea set. My father gave it to me over 30 years ago and it belonged to his mother. I am not interested in the monetary value of this piece. It is in ragged condition, possibly burned in a fire, and dented. The artful design on the front is damaged and I am curious as to what it originally looked like. The information on the stamp is: "Warrantee Quadruple Plate", "Homan Mfg. Company" (in a circle with an anchor in it), "Made in USA", then the number "2225", and then "Special Metal". I have researched the company a little and found some pictures of similar pieces. I am looking for a good picture of the sugar bowl's face. There is some of the design left.  conpejack@yahoo.com Thank you, Connie

I am in Australia, Victoria, and i came across a perfume bottle in an op-shop a few years ago and its cut patterned glass, with a brass lid atomizer. it still smells of rose water. Ive had several people tell me its circa 1800's, and was usually made with a silver top. Ive tried to find its origin and worth but cant seem to find it, i only come up with puff ball atomizers, this is a plunger type, and still works! apart from a little green on the mesh plate that filters the liquid, and a slight tarnish to the brass, it was a bargain for $3.00! An antique dealer said it could fetch around $200.00. Id appreciate some information and advice. Thank you. Email. hotchilli41@hotmail.com.au ......Gayle Taylor.

I’ve just acquired 5 porcelain ( I believe, maybe ceramic) coasters. The markings are set in a triangle with a rounded end on each point. The words appear to be “ DEPOSE” with an accent over the last E. The second word looks like “GESCHUTZT” Both words are incorporated in the triangle and a 3rd word appears but I can’t make it out. There is also a stamped shield in the middle of the triangle and some markings ( ) indented into the porcelain. Lastly the face of each coaster has flowers, some are different flowers but all colors are the same. Additionally each coaster has pewter ( I think) edge. Any help would be very much appreciated! njstargazer1@comcast.net

Hi, my mother inherited a solid claw foot dining table 6 tufted high back chairs and buffet, this was about 40 years ago. But her great aunt owned it for quite some time before that, so we are guessing 60-80 years of age. It was manufactured by Jefferson Woodworking Company Louisville, says Table Slide too. I have no other information,  This is a solid heavy set, looks like possibly cherry or mahogany. How can I find it's value? Thanks Andrea  ual384@yahoo.com

I have inherited two figurines, male and female, which I believe are porcelain. The male is playing a violin, the female is dancing. Both appear to be in 17th century style costumes. The only identifying marks on the underside on each is a raised oval plaque, approx 10mm x 6mm, with the initials AC in capitals. Can anyone shed any light on the maker or other details? Thanks. 09 Mar 2008

Hello: I recently acquired a Bawo and Dotter Limoges Elite dinner set which is missing 4 cups. I have been trying to identify the pattern which consists of a gold rim with a greek key on the outside as well as an acorn and oak leaf motif. 2 stamp marks appear on back: a decoration mark: B25g Red (used between 1896 and 1932) and a porcelain mark: B25b Green (used in the 1890s). Can someone help me identify the pattern and let me know if there is a source for possible replacement. I checked with Replacement.com with no luck. I have jpegs available. Thanks in advance pierre.n@sympatico.ca

I have a Carman Mfg Co, chest of drawers - two small drawers across the top and three big drawers going down the front. It is cedar lined, has a sort of leafy & curley design around small drawers and very bottom. Has brass knobs and handles. The high-boy has a wood framed mirror that measures about 2'x2' tilts forward and back and has brass holders on each side of it. Drawers are made with what I believe is called 'dove-tail' joints. The legs at the bottom are about a foot tall and very skinny and they kind of have a golf club head at the bottom. Can you tell what the approximate value is?  Thanks. barbaramills@cox.net

Need information on 4 plates that were given to me. They are stamped on the back Elite L France, Elite Works, Limoges France, Higgins & Seiter New York. Beautiful pink rose floral with some yellow, green leaves and blue small flowers bordering the roses. The plate has a delicately scalloped edge with raised dots that are accented in gold. The inside rim of the plate also has groups of  7 raised dots without the gold placed at equal intervals around the inside of rim. Then inside of that is a continuous green floral border. Center of the plate features a larger version of the images around the edge (pink, yellow, green and blue floral). I want to know a pattern name and approximate age and value of these. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I can email pictures if needed. dmprewett@darientel.net

We have a Berkey & Gay piece; I'm not sure if it's a dresser or a server. The drawer has the logo stamped into the wood. I believe it's an older piece. The top two drawers are shallow, with a flare, and hidden groove finger pulls on the bottom of the drawers. The other drawers are very deep, with 2 wooden knobs on each drawer (one knob is missing). Plain flat front, with the exception of a fluted column on each side. The bottom is roughly 4 to 6" from the floor, and the feet are very heavy scrolls. The finish is very dark, I have no idea if it's original. I think the wood is mahogany, but I'm not certain. The measurements are 52" wide x 34" high x 26" deep. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you! Lou.Ann.Loveless@gmail.com

For Your Information There is a bill (House Bill 288) currently before the Massachusetts House of Representatives which will require a business or person who operates for the purpose of either directly or indirectly, renting, leasing or granting a license to use space to any vendor for the display for sale or for the sale of tangible personal property, such property is defined as any produce, goods, ware, or merchandise in the commonwealth, to apply for a license, from the deputy director of standards in the office of consumer affairs and business regulation. The license fee is to be not more than two hundred dollars. There are other licensing requirements, such as a written agreement between the vendor and the promoter, documentation regarding the identity and location of each vendor, including social security number or tax I.D. number and a general description of the merchandise, etc. I think that this will affect many businesses in the commonwealth, including group shops and flea markets, but unfortunately not many people are aware of the bill. The text of the bill is at http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/185/ht00pdf/ht00288.pdf

Hi: I have a Cedar Chest that I am stumped on. It has an inside metal tag that says: 'Acme red cedar Chests'. under that says: 'trade mark', under that says: 'Excel them all', under that says: 'Acme will make it good or we will', under that says: 'Niles, Michigan, USA'. Here is what I am stumped on. I found a posting from a few years ago from the grandson that founded Acme Furniture Co in South Bend, Ind. All of the people that had posted about their chests prior and after in a thread about these chests all had the same metal tag that mine has, with one Huge difference. All of their tags had South Bend, Indiana...Not Niles, Michigan. Anyone out there have the same thing or know why mine would have a different town, state then everyone elses? Any info would be great! The stamp has a number at the top 1792 (don't know if it's a date or an ID #)with what looks like a crest/shield. Inside the image it has what looks like a pine tree and the letters H & C and the letter S underneath. Under this the word czechoslovakia is written in all caps. The whole stamp is only about the size of a nickel. Can anyone tell me what company the stamp is from or anything about it? Please email me at jottiehottie@msn.com Thanks!

We have inherited a dining set from a couple who had the set prior to their marriage in 1943.  I believe the set was originally for a kitchen. Oak table and 4 chairs - when the table is opened on the slide it says Jefferson Equalizer, Woodworking Co., Louisville KY. The table originally had a stencil pattern on the top, it was removed by someone placing a piece of vinyl on top when in storage - it peeled the stencil off. There is a buffet long top drawer two doors with shelf inside, stencil pattern is on the top and front of this. Also china cabinet with curved top - one drawer at bottom and two doors, stencil pattern is on front of this also. There is design on the wood front of buffet and china closet looks to be carved.  I believe it is from either the 20's or 30's. Thanks for any help you can give.  eski66@yahoo.com

I have two very detailed asian heads in mint condition outside of a few unnoticable dings. I have searched for similar items and can find the company and other heads, but I cannot find anything remotely as detailed or marked like the ones I have. The two different ones I have are marked "(C)1965 Marwal Ind. Inc. by Brower" I am assuming Brower is the particular person at the company who produced these specific heads in 1965. All others I have seen have the Marwal name stamped but no year, and no person. On my heads, they are carved in with some sort of carving tool on the back probably before the finishing process. If you have any information on what these may be worth (just interested), please contact me at StarletteSky22@aol.com

I have a Thomasville dining room set that was purchased in 1971. The name of the grouping is Patriarch and the wood is a pecan finish (Thomasville calls it Mediterranean). Does anyone have the china cabinet for sale? : mancuso@tkpitt.com. Thank you.

Radames Silberhof table. Looks like a coffee table with woodburning (Pyrography) of a dog and his winning titles on it. It was made in Freiburg, Germany, around 1951 or 1952.  There was a famous Borzoi kennel called Silberhof there. I'm trying to find out how the table got to America. Any information as to where it was originally purchased in Vermont would be of great help. I think it was purchased at an estate sale in St. Albans Vermont. The name of the woman who had it made was supposedly Charlotte Schaaf (or Scharf) and she had a daughter, Jutta Weber Schaaf (or Scharf). Underneath the table, a child wrote "Jesse's table" and "I love Oliver Sweet". Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, E. Denning Denning251@aol.com

Hi, I have a bowl/dish I'm trying to date. It's marked on bottom, Pairpoint Mfg. Co., P in diamond, Quadruple Plate, 1423. It has a swallow perched on top from two stems rising above the dish. The shallow plate/bowl has scalloped edges, incised/engraved floral and leaves design on 2/3rds of the back surface and the front portion is an opened fan with pieces designs.  I thought it may be produced in the 1800's before they combined and made glass lampshades, but references to the P in the diamond when it was re-established in the 1970's through me off. I have a silverplated German WMF Ikora vase, numbered 8022. It is 10" in height, copper/brass & silver in color. I'm not sure how to describe the pattern etched in it other than it spikes up and down. On the bottom, under the sticker, there is a logo etched in it that says WMF enderneath, as well as IKORA, GERMANY & SILVERPLATE. I found a website that says this logo and etching was used for this enamelled copper vase between 1925 and 1950. Also have a set of Royal Haeger peacock vases with mauve agate glaze. They both have the Royal Haeger silver label on them, although one of the labels only has half of it left. They are 9.5" in height, have the number 712 on the bottom and are in pretty good condition, with just a few imperfections on the bottom. If someone could give me approximate values, I'd really appreciate it. Pictures available. Thanks! Christina Kerns email: angecassex@yahoo.com
